replacement wiper motors

user Randal posted some info in a fuel pump thread. the link he had was a little off, but I found the info he was referring to. For search purposes, i am starting a new thread so everyone can see it not

tmcin.com is the main website, part number tmc-00902

direct link to wiper motor is
http://www.tmcin.com/index.asp?PageA...arch=GO&Page=1

cost is 60 bucks.

Randal, can you post a pic or two of where you mounted these, I missed wether it was upper or lower.

oh, and he also recommended a cole-hersee switch, pn# 75228-07 from carquest.

sorry for stealing the info, but i thought others would want it too.

Re: replacement wiper motors

Not mounted yet as Scout is in total primer stage. Mine is a 67 so mine will be below the glass when and if I get this done. (scout is in a building with no power to it right now and its some what cool outside yet.) I need to enlarge the holes to 1/2 or 5/8" to install. You can probably order the switch some where else like Autozone or Rockauto as carquest and Napa are what I have available locally within 15 miles. I WILL check the boxes and maybe post pictures but dont know how and am on dialup too. RANDAL is my first name and that is what I use in some sites.

Re: replacement wiper motors

I am changing the info from this original post. The correct control switch that I have purchased for my scout is the Cole-Hersee 75236. the cost was $32.72 through a local Carquest. I apologize for the incorrect info earlier.

Re: replacement wiper motors

Original info I found was on Pirate. I googled cole-hersee 75236 and got to the pirate post and went there. There is as a link to BB below it but it wont go through for me, probably do to the conversion to BP. Just trying to find out where I found all my info a year ago.

Re: replacement wiper motors

Here's one I had saved in my favorites:
http://www.netpreview.com/scout/wipers/index.htm

The motors he used appear to be identical but cost 2X as much.

Re: replacement wiper motors

I installed a pair of very similar motors to these in my 70 800. They have a switch on each motor but I just left them in the on position under my dash. I picked up a switch from NAPA, removed their knob, and shaved about a 1/4 inch off the stock knob to make it fit the switch. It looks pretty stock and fits under the dash, the only issue I had was moving the driver side wiper to clear the indent where the hood bolts on. Not as pretty under the dash as I'd hoped to make it, but it works well! PS I have a new windshield and seal when I get around to it...

Re: replacement wiper motors

www.amequipment.com/03_marine.html - interesting marine wiper motor that would fit the lower 800 style wiper space.

Re: replacement wiper motors

how tough would it be to retrofit these wipers into an 80? moving the wipers from the top to bottom? is it as simple as making a new hole?

Re: replacement wiper motors

There are a couple threads out there on doing the retrofit... I only remember that it requires a lot and most people that ask do not go thru with it.

Re: replacement wiper motors

if its worth the work, Id do it. But, if there is no real benefit to be had, then obviously I wouldnt. I have searched for wiper conversion, and electric wiper, but didnt come across any posts regardgin said conversion.

Re: replacement wiper motors

thanks, but isnt that an 800 to begin with? Im not familiar with the differences between the two, but from what I can tell, the window frame looks pretty similar. So it really then only becomes a dash clearance problem?

Re: replacement wiper motors

Yes, I would guess it's a dash clearance problem. I think you are going to run into more problems than it's worth. just curious... Why not just run them in the top location?

Re: replacement wiper motors

they just seemed to be more vulnerable to trail snags from tree limbs, and an obscurity to vision, but then I have no first hand experience with it, as mine is stripped to a frame and tub at the moment. IM tubing this though out, and as yet have not decided on a stock dash or custom panel. I expected to be running a spreader between the A pillar cage mounts along the upper section of the dash, with window bars, so a custom dash will probably be coming. I figured now is the time to switch, but if the wiper performance is not enhanced, than its really not worth it.

Re: replacement wiper motors

there is no doubt that wiper performance is enhanced by switching to electric, I can drive uphill in a hurricane and see now. I'm just not sure it would be any different switching from top to bottom.

Re: replacement wiper motors

It looks like a conversion is going to be neccesary sooner than I have planned. Does anyone have info to add to the thread before I tackle this?

Re: replacement wiper motors

Looks like some trimming of the hard top, and they stick up a bit so running a bikini top might need some slight modification to clear the motors. It looks pretty good to me... it's on the list of things to do on mine.

Electric wipers mounted on the top of the windshield frame in an 80:

Re: replacement wiper motors

If you purchase a marine motor for a electric motor conversion do you need to purchase new wiper arms or will the stock 800 wipers fit

Re: replacement wiper motors

To use your factory arms, you might need to reuse the knurl from your old vacuum motors if the new ones do not have the correct ones. The ones I ordered were a direct fit.
