Re: A Tale of Two Scouts

I haven't gotten any more done since the Binder Bash. It still needs brakes, driveshafts, some wiring, etc.

Re: A Tale of Two Scouts

Yeah, I am working out a deal to get it. I will be throwing my 6 cyl stuff in it. Down the road I would like to get an AX15 and 44 front for it. But for now I will just drive it and enjoy being in a Scout again!

I still have the chopped project, and will be putting a 383/727 in it from Jon. My uncle picked up a 4 barrel intake for me already. I just need a daily driver than doesn't require too much attention right now.

Re: A Tale of Two Scouts

Yesterday I helped Cory muscle the Scout and the motor/tranny/t-c around and I came home with more parts in the back of the Traveler. I'm starting to see a pattern here. I'm leaving with at least one part everytime I go over there. Before I know it, I'll have a whole scout in the back of the traveler if I'm not careful.

What's next, another 345?

It's still hanging on the hook waiting for you.

WOW - Cory with an empty garage? Say it isn't so!

What's your next big project C?

I have that D60 pulled and sitting on a trailer waiting to be towed to your house.

I'll have a better idea budget wise after I get my lift springs, and possibly the rear axle from Todd and front axle from Darrin. Those three are first in line in that order.

Actually it's still in my garage for a while. I guess I'll be on the lookout for another project. When are we going to do your engine swap?

Re: A Tale of Two Scouts

Cory was nice enough to help me get my Mustard Scout to my new house yesterday. I do have a old garage there, but this green Scout is too tall for it.
So, Cory is nice enough to let me finish this over at his place. Yesterday we got my 6cyl engine/tranny/t.case over there. Then we pulled the old dash, auto pedal assembly, brake booster/master cyl out and replaced them with the ones out of the mustard Scout.

This is now the tale of three Scout's......

Re: A Tale of Two Scouts

We could do an engine swap in my little orange scout and make this a tale of 4 scouts, but it appears as though none of us have time for yet another project.

It will happen - life will slow down and it will happen.

Re: A Tale of Two Scouts

Well, yesterday Cory came over to my house and we got a few things done....
I pulled the engine and rounded up parts while he took the motor mounts off of the mustard scout. We then got over to his house and welded in the new motor mounts, got the engine/tranny/t.case in for a test fit... It is looking good!

I have a whole new level of respect for Cory's welding skills after using his worn out welder. If he had a real welder he would be unstoppable!!

Darrin
p.s. thanks shukmeister for coming over and help with lining up the engine.

Yeah...... I really was instrumental in that whole process. I don't know where you and C would be without me.

Anytime my friend - especially if there's a cold Dew to be had.

Re: A Tale of Two Scouts

The truck looks great. If you can be so kind as to answer a question for a simpleton, I see you changed the windshield frame. I assume this is a cut and weld procedure? In comparison to say the quarter panels and rocker panels you did is the is more difficult procedure? I've got my eye on a scout that is really rusted at the cowl and windshield frame and wondering if it's something I want to tackle or not.

The windshield frames are bolted on. Three bolts each side. You can see them through the upper door hinge holes. You also have to remove or lift up the top and remove the cowl panel under the hood. The quarter panels are removed by using a spot weld cutter or drill on all the spot welds on the edges. New ones are usually welded back on but you could rivet them if you wanted. You need the top off for that too.
