Heep mirrors on a Scout II !

I was looking for a fold-away mirrior to go on the build up and decided on these. 87-02 Heep
They can be ran in two different positions and the head can also be folded in to clear the trees!
I liked them when I got them but when I went to mount them I wasn't sure. Then after they were mounted and I could fold them in, I really liked them.

Tell me what you think.

I did change out the stock mounting gasket for a piece of 1/4" rubber. It helps the mirror clear the dooor in the folded position.

Other build ups.
Rear Disc Jeep D300 OBA OBW Interior PS pump reseal Hydro boost Mirrors Headliner
SOA Bushing replacement Roll cage And of course..FI

I like the look. About time someone found a use for those, hehe. Anyways, what are your thoughts on them? do they vibrate at speed? How's visablity? are they big enough? Problems mounting? How about the use of the "wing" window?
Just a few questions for you.

After taking the scout for a drive, I like them. Good visabilty. No vibration at all. They lock tight in position. Plenty big enough. I used to have trouble seeing out the passengers side with the car mirrors. This one is bigger and it is a "Objects appear smaller than they are" mirror!
I just drilled and tapped for 1/4X20X1" SS oval head screws. I just have the screws into the door right now but I have the flat washers and nuts to go on the inside for added insurance!

Vent wings are fully functional. 1 of the things I made sure of during mounting.
I wasn't too keen on drilling holes in the scout after I just got done welding up all the holes!! But it had to be done.

Bill,
I like the look as well. I went ahead and installed some of the Ford F150 mirrors and don't have any problems with vibration.

FWIW, I like the SSII (or Jeep style mirrors w/o the custom SSII mounting bracket) mirrors for my trail rig.

The mirror doesn't get rattled/banged every time the door is opened and closed, since it's mounted to the A-pillar/windshield frame.

It also means you can remove the doors.

I'm going to go that route with probably a wide angle round mirror on both sides with extensions like the use on semi trucks.

But as far as Bill's Bling Bling Scout II they do look good!

Re: Heep mirrors on a Scout II !

Got mine from Ebay also.
You can find a lot of the factory ones on there from the guys going to the aftermarket chrome ones.

I was going for the paint theme look so I wanted to paint to match!
You just have to get rid of the word "Heep" on the mirror!!

Okay, a simple question, but do the Jeep mirrors adjust in the manner depicted in the attached picture?

Re: Heep mirrors on a Scout II !

I believe so.

More or less a ball swivel at the base of the mirror.

I havent found any I can afford yet, unless they are broken: thumbsup

Thanks Bill, I thought so. Yeah, I've been tryin' to find 'em uber-cheep too, but I may have to bite the bullet & get it done. :)
