What to do with a International 392 engine?

Hello, this is my first post on this forum. My family has an International 392 engine that we would like to sell but don't know how much its worth (if anything) or how to go about selling it. My dad planned on putting the engine in a dump truck. The engine wasn't working, so I believe he had it rebuilt by a mechanic which cost about $1,100. By the time the engine was done, the deal on purchasing the dump truck fell thru. That was 9 years ago and the engine has been sitting in the garage since. We are considering putting it on ebay, but don't want to deal with the hassle of shipping it. Does anyone have any ideas how much it worth or suggestions where to advertise? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Near Traverse City, MI (Northern lower peninsula) Anybody have any thoughts on how much it's worth? My dad does not want to ship it, we are trying to figure a price for it before I post a for sale ad, but not sure other than ebay, traderonline or this site where to advertise.

If it were closer to me, Im sure my dad would be interested in it for our Travelall. The 392 that was in it is in desperate need of a rebuild...its been sitting for 10 years due to carb problems

Cost wise for a builder I wouldn't spend more than $100. However, in Colorado builder motors from the salvage yards go from $100 to $300. Running motors in good shape, with good compression and minimal leaks, would go for $500 up to $1500 depending on documentation on the rebuild. Don't know how that applies to Michigan. You might try looking on Car-Parts.COM and narrow your search down to Michigan. However, demand for IH engines just isn't as high as for the Big 3 or asian power plants. So don't expect a lot when selling. That and most IH owners tend to be "thrifty", read "cheap" if you want. ;-)

I am in Grayling, approximately 40 miles from you. I may have an interest in the 392. 989-710-0175 Ed Baudoux
