Hello, I finally got to the country to measure that axel.
I'm not sure of the overall width, it still has the dual wheels on it.
The Spring mounting center to center is 40 inches.
It is close to 13 inches from spring center to axel flange on both sides.
It has a large 10 bolt removeable carrier. perhaps 5/8th bolts.
the axel tubes are 4 inches across.
8 lug wheels, and 8 bolt axels
also stamped on the end of the axel, where it bolts to the brake drum, are the letters. EJE 4217 460 and the IH logo.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Jon

I don't know the answers to those questions.
I will measure it for you, and eyeball it, and let you know.
However, it may take a day or three.
Thanks,
Jon

I want one that will track at the same width as the front axle. I was told by someone else that IH didn't differentiate housings between a one ton that had dual wheels and one that had single wheels. The were the same housing width. That may be wrong...I do not know. Irregardless, right now I want one the same width as what I have in front from wms to wms. I may be interested in a narrow housing if one exists though.

Looking for a one ton rear axle
I am looking for the big corporate rear (also known as an RA15) typically used in 69-75 1300/1310 series one ton trucks. I would like a4:88 ratio but will consider anything. Even one that is damaged. If anyone knows of one for sale anywhere, please let me know.
