I have a 440 Dodge and would like to put it in my son's Scout II. Is there an adapter to mate the IH 727 to the dodge? I don.t want to use the dodge tranny as it is full time T/C. Any ideas?
The 727 is a dodge transmission. But they made a different bolt pattern just for the IH. So the 440 is a very popular swap. Most guys just get a dodge 727 and use the tailshaft from the IH 727 and keep the TC. It's normally a dana 20 TC. But if you have a 1 spd TC then you may be better off looking for a donor ramcharger or power wagon for the np203 or 205 TC behind the 727 and just swap everything. Then you will need driveshafts.
Then while you have the donor you may want to look at the full width axles D44/D60.
