Hello all, my name is Tom. Just found out about this forum. I've been hanging around the Binder Bulletin for two years now as I've been restoring my 79 Scout II.

I live in Northcentral PA and we have experienced a tremendously harsh winter. The extreme cold has caused me many carburetor (mostly choke) problems, and I'm at my wits end.

I've decided to go with TBI and have began researching your site, including reading threads and the FAQ.

I am ready to do this conversion on my 304. The Scout is of stock height, w/ 30 in tires, T19W, D20, 3.54s, locked in the rear, open in the front. I am running a points distributor now, and Holley 2245 carb.

I am getting several opinions on this conversion right now. I have several IH distributors here right now, including the points, 2 GBs and 1 Prestolite.

I read in some of the threads about a possible parts list and instructions... can someone point me in the right direction please.

Also I'm not sure that I understand the chip thing. I was planning on getting a TBI unit and computer from a 92-95 Chevy 350. Others are telling me to use a Chevy 305 from an El Camino. I plan to buy a new harness from a street rod place in Texas.

I look forward to your replies.

Start reading from the links on the Just Internationals Fuel Injection page and all the threads inthis forum. All the basics are covered well.

If you have a 304 it's best to get the throttle body from a Chevy 305 engine. The ECM that is preferred is the GM 1227747, they come in many cars and trucks. Check Jeff's donor page.

Bill has a write up on distributors at:

You can use a stock wiring harness and modify it yourself or Affordable Fuel Injection has a starter kit for the IH.
