Is it possible to convert a 196 4 cyl. to a Duraspark set up? The motor is out of a '67 Scout 800 w/ Holley points distributor. What parts and what kind of work would need to be done?
Justin,
The conversion is the same as the V-8. You will need to find the 4cyl reluctor in the junkyard or at the parts store. IIRC it has been a topic here before and we even posted pics of the 4 and 6 cylinder reluctors.
Ford used the DS in 4,6,and 8 cyl engines.
I haven't tried it yet but I think you could even use a V-8 reluctor and remove every other finger off of it.
Check out the conversion article from the main FI page.
I just got a 152 delco dist to convert but I think I will just take the V-8 Holley dist and make it a 4cyl. The delco distr 's are getting hard to find!!
