  • What a deal!!

Just got back form the "mall" with my some of my goodies. Complete wiring harness (with all sensors except the knock and oil pressure switch) and throttle body w/air cleaner from a 90 S-10 blazer. Everything I looked at, 85-91 gm wise, had the brain and the distributor missing. However, if you wanted to do a ford injection setup, there were all kinds of TB and V-8 distributors. So I may be going back to get the knock sensor and oil pressure switch with the right wrenches, and when I do, I may go ahead and get the duraspark disty setup. BTW, today's cost: $45.

That is a pretty good deal. I was able to pick up the complete harness and '7747 ECM from an '89 Safari for $35, I got the TB (w/ TPS, IAC and injectors) for another $30. The EGR solenoid, MAP, 8 pin ignition module and ESC were free. I just need to pick up a CTS and knock sensor (maybe the oil pressure switch, haven't decided on that one yet) and I'll have everything I need.

I would like to get a hold of some injectors from a V8 but it seems everything TBI in the boneyard is V6 or L4.

Once you get all your equipment pulled together and installed, are you planning on just buying a chip from someone, or are you planning to purchase the hardware to burn your own chips? I still need to pick up a programmer and an eraser. I have about 50 blank chips.

Actually there is a guy in our scout club that has access to a chip burner that will burn all of the "big three" chips. All I have to do is get a laptop or something to read the code and send it to him and he'll burn it for me. Unless I find a pretty good deal from someone who has been doing this for a while??

Here in most of the yards the computers are gone or the wrong ones, and about half of the injectors are gone. Mostly from the v6s and the 4cyl. IIRC, alot of the v8 still had the injectors in the TB. I will be going there either tomorrow or friday to take a look. Might have to pic up a couple of extras. What years of gm vehicles would be compatible with our TB units?? There are several olds v8s in this yard I'll be going to next. Also, there were several full size vans today that I think had EFI that I couldn't get to to see.

Let me know if I can help ya out.

1987 to 1992 Chevy, GMC, pick ups and vans with the 5.7 liter all have the 1227747 ECM and all the right parts for sure. After that I don't know.
I had a post about the distributors but still no clear cut answer as to exactly which one's to look for?

            Don't forget the core!!

I had thought about that too. untill I checked on line about the price. Its $109 for a 1227747 ECU plus $112 for the core. Now we are talking $221. I'll keep looking at the "malls".

If all else fails they are about 40.00 on ebay he also has complete sets of sensors for about 35.00. Look for a guy from Horsham, PA goes by Ragged1. Everything I have gotten from him has been good.

                Jeff,
See if you can find an "extra" set of injectors from a V8. If you can, I will probably take them off your hands. Shipping won't be a big deal as they are small and you are close. Thanks.... good luck in the search. Oh, don't forget to look for '88-'89 or so Astros and Safaris. They have the 1227747, but they have the 6-cyl NetRes. The 8-cyl NetRes only cost me about $14 at a GM stealer.

                  Todd,

I'll be picking up all of the v8 injectors I can find when I go. Figuring on doing my daughter's scout and one more after mine.

So all of the 88-92/3 full size tucks/vans and the safaris/astros have the 1227747 ECU? Am I right on that?

I did find out that the ignition module from the 6 cyl 4.3 is the same as the one that goes in the v8 disty.

                  Thanks,

                  Jeff

                    Jeff,
Here is a cut and paste from one of Ludis' page:
                    Application:
                    1987-91 truck 4.3 V6 TBI “Z” LB4 (exc. “S” & “T” body)
                    1990 truck 4.3 V6 TBI “Z” LB4 w/ MT (“S” & “T” body)
                    1990-91 truck 4.3 V6 TBI “B” LU2
                    1987-91 truck 5.0 V8 TBI “H” L03
                    1987-90 truck 5.7 V8 TBI “K” L05
                    1991-92 truck 5.7 V8 TBI “K” L05 w/o 4L80E
                    1987-89 truck 7.4 V8 TBI “N” L19
I don't know how complete this list is, but it gives you something to work off of. The Astro/Safari from '87 to '91 will have the 1227747 IF it's a V6. Some of these were used L4's and those used a different computer. Although the '7747 says it will work with 4,6, or 8 cyl, I have yet to find a GM application that used the '7747 for a 4 cyl.

Is this the beginning of a list of vehicles with the 1227747 ECM?
I would like to start several pages that we can reference for parts needed.

                          list??

                          Mark,

I have a list for parts and pieces for the TBI system components that I am working on to cleanup duplicate entries. Will post it here if it isn't too large. Otherwise I'll send it to you in htm format so you can add it to the info here.

                          Jeff

PS. I have it on disc here at work, but my comp won't read it for some reason, probably dirt.
