I'm considering a SOA conversion on my '71 800B, and am looking for info regarding a cut and turn procedure of the Dana 27 closed knuckle front axle. I am aware of the strength limitations of the Dana 27 and don't plan to exceed 33" tires and moderate four wheeling. Any info would be appreciated. I'm assuming that it is similar to an open knuckle axle, I'm just not sure where the best place to grind off welds, rotate for proper caster, and reweld would be. There are welds at the base of the steel ball at the end of the housing and a couple inches inward. Are either of these locations the best spot?
